Oct 2002
A lot of things have changed sense I wrote this back in April of 2002. Now it’s the end of October of 2002, and things have gotten better, but also worse in some ways.
The worse is that do to some problems that started back in July, I’m having to retire buddy. He has slowly begun growling at people and things with no reason at all. His work has also deteriorated to the point where I can no longer work him. Finally, I suspect that the pin in his leg has caused him enough trouble to the point where he can’t climb the stairs on busses any more. One last thing, is that He’s now terrified of traveling. I don’t know why but he is. I made the decision to retire buddy back in September. I really like him, but with the way that my life is now, I don’t really have the time or energy to deal with his problems. I’ve tried dealing with it, but he’s only getting worse.
The good news is that I’m leaving tomorrow morning to go back to school to get another dog. Buddy will go back for revaluation to see what they can do with him.
Good things have also been happening also though. I registered for school back in July of this year, and am now taking Linux system administration classes. I’ve been using Linux for the past year, but I want to use the classes to fill in my background more.
I’m also now involved in Freenode. Freenode is basically an irc network aimed mainly at open source and free software projects. I’ve found freenode to be very helpful in helping me build my Linux background, among many other things. I’ve found some people there that I concidder to be good friends, and we have a lot of fun. About a month and a half ago,I was asked to become a staff member which I accepted. Staff has it’s good points and it’s bad like anything else, but for the most part it is something I enjoy because I have a chance to help the network.
I’m also now involved in wopn Freenode’s streaming radio project. This is also a lot of fun, because I can interact with users a lot.
As I said, things have been mixed good and bad, but over all, I think that things have worked out for the better. I’m losing my dog which I don’t like, but I’ve gained a person I concidder a very good friend…
Oh, and another thing. Yesterday we got another roommate. Sarah is a good friend of Christy’s who has kind of moved in with us She’s real nice, and I think it’ll be fun.
